Lighter Inn

Lighter Inn, Topsham

Lighter Inn

The Lighter’s quayside location, makes it popular with tourists and the recent makeover of the seventeenth century building reflects this, giving the pub a bright and airy atmosphere and tending towards food nowadays.

It takes its name from the lighter, a flat bottomed boat used at Topsham to unload larger ships that had to anchor in the middle of the channel. Until 1958, the quay was still served by a railway siding, and the area not so developed for tourism.

A reasonable range of beers and friendly local banter make this a great place to catch up with yourselves!
